Why Angus Lift Trucks?
We can provide all your Driver CPC training needs for a whole 5-year period in a one-week (5-day) training course which will cover the 10 modules needed to complete statutory requirements. You will have peace of mind, and avoid having to schedule further CPC training within your designated period.
We can provide your training at our In-House Training Facility, which is located at our Hinckley (Leics.) Head Office site, where you will join 5 other drivers on a 5-day course. If you are a company with many drivers, we can provide this training at your premises if you prefer.

When you are driving a vehicle with the purpose of taking lessons to obtain a driving license or Driver CPC.
Getting your CPC Card
Once you have completed the required 35 hours of periodic CPC driver training, you will receive your Driver CPC card. If you forget to carry the card with you when driving professionally, you could be fined £50.00 if roadside checks are made. You MUST replace your card if it is lost or stolen.
When you receive your Driver CPC card, it will show the date by which your training must be completed. It is entirely up to you when you do your training, as long as it is completed within the 5-year timeframe.
Your next deadline will be 5 years from when you complete your training. If you miss the deadline, you will not be able to drive professionally until you have completed your training. If you are caught driving without a valid CPC, both the driver and operator could face a fine of up to £1000.
Checking your periodic CPC hours
Keeping track of exactly how much of your mandatory periodic CPC training you have completed is very important as it will help you stay up to date. Checking your hours can be done easily by logging on the DSVA website www.gov.uk/check-your-driver-cpc-periodic-training-hours and registering your details. Once registered, you will be able to access your training record online, when you please.
Topics covered
Our Driver CPC training course covers many topics, including First Aid, Health & Safety, Loading and Unloading, Customer Care, Safe and Fuel-efficient Driving, Drivers’ hours, etc.
Our CPC training is carried out at our Leicester office, and we often have drivers traveling from Northampton, Nottingham, Warwick, Derby, Birmingham, West Midlands, and East Midlands, too.
Can you repeat the same course in a 5-year period?
In November 2020, the DSVA issued guidance emphasising that drivers should not repeat the same periodic CPC training within a 5-year rolling period. If repetition occurs action may be taken against the driver and trainer. A driver may only take the same course more than once in a 5-year period if there is a good reason to repeat it, for example, maintaining a dangerous goods qualification. If the driver does not have a good reason, DSVA can cancel the hours which could make the card invalid if the total is taken below 35 hours.
What you should do if you have a licence from another country
If you have a licence from another country, or already have an EU Driver CPC card, and would like to have a Great Britain (GB) Driver Certificate of Competence (CPC) card, information and details of requirements can be found at https://www.gov.uk/driver-cpc-training/if-you-have-a-licence-from-other-countries
What is CPC Training and why do you need it?
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) was introduced in 2008 as legally required ‘Continual Professional Development’ and aims at improving road safety together with maintaining high standards of driving.
It also ensures that you as a driver are up-to-date with all health, safety, and legal requirements. Driver CPC is a qualification for anyone that operates an HGV, LGV or bus for a living.
You MUST maintain your CPC by taking part in 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years. Failure to remain compliant can result in a fine of up to £1000 being imposed, so staying up to date is very important to you and your job.
